Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has again given his party symbol to Bima Bharti. Bima Bharti, who had lost her deposit in the Lok Sabha elections, will again try her luck in the assembly by-election. Bima Bharti went to Rabri residence on Tuesday to get the ticket. There she met RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi. In 2020, she won the election on the ticket of CM Nitish Kumar’s party. This time Janata Dal United has given ticket to Kaladhar Mandal.

The Election Commission of India has announced the dates for by-elections on Rupauli assembly seat. Voting will be held there on July 10. This seat was vacant due to the resignation of Bima Bharti. Just before the Lok Sabha elections, Bima Bharti resigned from the assembly membership, but she did not get success in the Lok Sabha elections as well.

Nominations till June 21, counting on July 13

The Election Commission of India will issue a notification on June 14 for the by-election on Rupauli assembly seat. June 21 is the last date for filing nominations. While the nomination papers will be scrutinized on June 24. Nominations can be withdrawn by June 26. Voting will be held on July 10 and counting of votes will be held on July 13.

Bima Bharti won the 2020 election on JDU ticket

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, Bima Bharti won the Rupauli seat on a JDU ticket. She defeated Shankar Singh of Lok Janshakti Party by 9672 votes. CPI candidate Vikas Chandra Mandal from the Grand Alliance was in third place. But Bima Bharti left JDU before the Lok Sabha elections and joined RJD. Along with this, she resigned from the assembly membership and contested from Purnia Lok Sabha seat on an RJD ticket. But Bima Bharti faced a crushing defeat in the elections and she stood third. Independent candidate Pappu Yadav won the Lok Sabha elections, while JDU candidate Santosh Kushwaha was in second place.
